My Wife Beats Her First Video Game

My wife did not grow up as a gamer or even bother playing video games as a child. She had a younger brother, but their gap in age did not open up any good avenues for bonding. Not like the 16 month difference with my sister. (We played many games together in our youth.) For the last 7 years after the birth of our first son, I’ve been telling my wife that she needs to learn how to play games and turn on the consoles and what controllers go with what. The only thing she knew how to do was play DVDs in the PS2. So, its a start.

Within the last two years, I got her to join in on some limited time with EyeToy on the PS2. Just some casual playing around but nothing extensive. She maybe did a race or two on Mario Kart DS. And she showed a short interest in Wii Sports when I bought the console. We still play tennis once a month when the mood strikes us.

She is becoming a fan of the Nintendo DS. I turned her onto Honeycomb Beat, which is an outstanding title that was only released in the UK. Then, she saw me playing an interesting puzzle game earlier this year. It was Professor Layton. She started helping me with my puzzles and decided she wanted to start her own story. The addiction begins. She started to talk trash and say she was going to beat me to the end. She started taking the DS to bed, she hid it from me so I wouldn’t take it to work, she needs her own DS.

Who says Wii owners don’t buy games?

You just got to love all these articles from half-ass analysts, haters, and ‘talk out their ass’ asses. Everyone is quick to claim that the Wii is soon to die. The Wii is just a fad. It’s domino marketing sells will soon dwindle and all the Wiis will collect dust. Wii owners are only interested in Wii Sports and Wii Play and the possible first party title. Their is no way that attache rate of the Wii will match Xbox or PS3.

Below is just units sold according to nextGenWars.

nexgenwars.com

This only shows total hardware. The attache rate for the Wii is nearing 5 games owned per console with the PS3 nipping at its heels. The Xbox360 has a total of 7 games per unit. Those numbers are close if you factor in the 360 was out a whole year before the Wii.

What games do I own? Do I help the attache rate? I sure as shit do.

First party – Wii Sports, Wii Play, Links Crossbow, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros.
Third party –  Rayman Raving Rabbids, Excitruck, Geometry Wars, Ghost Squad, Resident Evil 4
Numerous Virtual Console Games
Coming Soon – Mario Kart (Sunday), House of the Dead 2 & 3, and Mercury Meltdown (these 3 are just definites that I will have within the month)

Deforrestation of Animal Crossing

It is time to give up one of the first games that I overplayed on my Nintendo DS, and of course it is another game a grown gaming man should not be playing…Animal Crossing Wild World. One of those damn addicting games that we played at work. A stupid time wasting, item collecting, fishing, bug catching game. I traded this game away on Trade Games Now for Zelda Minish Cap. Good score for both parties.

If you know me, as the guys at work do. You do not want me visiting your ACWW town. I leave trash hidden behind houses so you never find it. I teach my residents curse words and sexual and racial innuendos in hopes that they spread their vulgar hate to younger children. So, to seal this deal I decided to go all out and leave my town in shambles for the next gamer. Jump to after the break for the ghetto of K-TEL.
